What is GSM? GSM vs CDMA?

Answer 

GSM is a type of digital mobile phone service that utilize SIM cards, including T-Mobile, Cingular, or AT&T. The other network in the U.S. is CDMA, including Verizon, Sprint, etc.

Just about every other country in the world primarily or only use GSM network. Unfortunately, the two different systems are not compatible with each other.
